Good for Health Gift Idea!

Looking for a gift that will make a difference for family and friends?  How about a relaxing series of four Tai-Chi and Qigong classes to start the new year off on the right foot?

Patricia Beretta (Tai-Chi and Qigong instructor and founder of the Tai-Chi and 15 Minutes to Health program) has developed a very special partnership with THEMUSEUM in Kitchener.  The ancient treasures of Tai-Chi and Qigong will be brought to life in Patricia’s vibrant classes as part of The Museum’s Treasures of China exhibit.  The exhibit is the first North American visit of sculptures from the Dazu UNESCO World Heritage site.

“Being introduced to Tai-Chi and Qigong in such an environment is unique.” says Patricia.  “In one visit to THEMUSEUM, people will be able to appreciate the historic and artistic value of the Dazu carvings, and then join in the internal art of movement that is Tai-Chi and Qigong. We have so much to learn from ancient Eastern practices, and so much that can directly apply to our busy lives to regain balance and dynamism.”

The classes run for four Saturdays (January 12, 19, 26, and February 2, 2013, at 11am at THEMUSEUM, 10 King Street West, Kitchener) and cost $40 + HST for the series.

Concentration will be on introducing the “Three Treasures” of health from Traditional Chinese Medicine:
•    Jing,  which means increased longevity
•    Qi,  which means strengthened vital energy
•    Shen, which means harmonized mind.
Gentle, simple movements characterize these centuries-old practices, making them accessible for all.

In North America, Tai-Chi and Qigong are probably best known for relaxation and stress relief, but the health benefits don’t end there.  Prevention Magazine, for example, reports research that found improvements in pain and joint function, and the New England Journal of Medicine has published studies showing improvements in patients suffering various severe ailments.

The practices of Tai-Chi and Qigong have been passed on from generation to generation because of their undeniable health benefits.  The Museum’s classes create a modern opportunity to pass on this gift - a natural for anyone interested in health, history, or Eastern arts and culture.

Gift certificates are available at The Museum, but for those who like to “try before they buy”, Patricia is offering a free 30 minute introduction with information and exercise demonstrations.  Those interested can choose between a December 3rd Waterloo session, or one in Breslau on December 5th, 2012 (for details, visit www.LeShiatsu.com).

About Patricia Beretta
Patricia Beretta, PhD, is well known locally for being an engaging, responsive, and dedicated Tai-Chi and Qigong instructor.  She originally discovered Tai-Chi and Qigong while working internationally, and developed a regular practice to cope with the stressors and demands of executive positions in the biomedical engineering and medical high-tech sector.  Inspired by the prevention and health benefits of Eastern medical traditions, she decided to become a shiatsu therapist and acupuncturist.  Her current practice is devoted to helping people in the Kitchener-Waterloo community through shiatsu and acupuncture therapies as well as Tai-Chi and Qigong classes.  For more information, visit www.LeShiatsu.com .
